This is a healthy meal. In place of boiled yam yiu can add boiled fresh corn and mix. Add a little salt to the corn while boiling and yes, remove from the cob. Fresh ogili is a key ingredient in this. Add it to vegetables, add ukpaka, add the small anara, fresh pepper and season with salt. Steam for a few minutes and don’t over cook it. Once the vegetable is half steamed, add palm oil to the mix and using a wooden spoon, mix thoroughly and taste to be sure it’s as tasty as you would want it to be. If you have good quality Ọgili Idemilli, you might not need even a single cube.

Be sure to use fermented ukpaka! I love plenty pepper and this is a meal I go overboard with pepper!!! During rainy season I add fresh ukpaka to it. I cook the ukpaka separately and mash it a bit before adding to the mix. Don’t cook the ukpaka without breaking off the two egdes and washing in water and salty water. You can break into pieces or cook it like that, I do both. You can use same vegetable mix to eat ede bụ ji and ji abana too. So rather than add corn, you do your mix and chose the carbohydrate to eat it with. I also eat it without any carb. Bon Appétit!
