Kill the anointing killer before it kills you

*Judges Chapter 16*

*Tue, 23 August, 2022*

I would title this sermon, Kill the anointing killer before it kills you. Samson was anointed, yes, but there was a weakness unattended, so it grew. Interestingly, the weakness with women did not affect his anointing till it got to the point of losing his vision; a point of no return. Watch who you lie with Samson, because you can’t help being vulnerable.

Delilah was an agent of the enemy, so she pressed on him for the secret of his strength. She was consistently nagging him and determined to get the answer. However, Samson was consistently losing strength on the bed of iniquity, so there was no way he couldn’t tell her. He had to!

He did not know when the strength left him…

“Then she called, ‘Samson, the Philistines are upon you!’ He awoke from his sleep and thought, ‘I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.’ But he did not know that the Lord had left him.”
Judges 16:20 NIVUK

The loss of strength was gradual till he was surprisingly arrested by his enemies.

*Lesson:* The enemy knows what we like, so that’s what he uses as a point to attack. Beware! The weakness not addressed opens the door for the enemy to operate through. In verse 23-31, the Philistines derided Samson while they celebrated their God, Dagon.
But God is merciful! Samson cried out to God and He never retreats from such cry of mercy.

In his low state, he still called on God! He asked God to use the occasion for his glory, so he killed more of the Philistines in death than when he was alive. May be he would have lived longer and still fulfilled purpose, if he took care of the weakness that sought to kill him.

Kill the anointing killer!

The anointing killers lie within; they are not primarily village people!
